A companion piece to the Tlaloc I posted a while ago. Yet another Aztec God design, only here Quetzalcoatl is finally closer to looking the way I wish him to look. He was always meant to be shorter and stockier than most of the others. More compact. At odds with his serpent alter-ego perhaps, but more appropriate for his personality and his role in my Godlings story. I executed this image the same as Tlaloc, with multiple layers and textures. This would be Quetzalcoatl in formal dress, and the only article on him that I would not draw again is the headband. I would much rather show that all those feathers grow directly from his scalp and serve as his hair. The tattoos are updated and more authentically Aztec. The rattles at his ankles as well. And at his waist is a python skull, and on his torso is the ever-present wound from being skewered by Athena. |
